Pertoča- marshy meadows

North of the Ledava lake, in a flooded area, is a fairly large, linked complex of wet meadows, most of which are extensively overgrown or completely abandoned. Among the various groupings, the most outstanding are the field species Ranunculo-alopecuretum, in the wetter depressions many types of high sedge (Magnocharition).

On the occasionally flooded areas is a well-developed grouping of great burnet and meadow fescue, among which are preserved hedges, lone trees and islands of bushes. Rare and endangered species thrive in the area (Iris sibirica, Alisma lanceolatum, Gratiola officinalis, Ranunculus sceleratus etc.). The area is a reserve for white storks, and a nesting ground for sedge warblers. The area also hosts the critically endangered dragonflies Sympetrum depressiusculum and the banded darter (Sympetrum pedemontanum).
